Abstract
508,923. Calculating - apparatus. COSTES, D. Sept. 19, 1938, No. 27264. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1937. [Class 106 (i)] A device for use in aerial navigation or other purpose for ascertaining the bearing, speed during flight, position, time of flight or other functional variable comprises a rail 1 supporting a cursor 2 having a pivot 12 on which is mounted a rigid rule 13 graduated in terms of distance. The rule 13 can be angularly adjusted with respect to a protractor 22 arranged on the pivot 12, the parts being held in set position by a nut 14. Adjacent the zero of the fixed scale 15 on the rule is secured an elastic band 16 the free end of which is attached to a cord or wire 17 wound around a reel 18 at the upper end of the rule. The band 16 has engraved or otherwise marked thereon a scale 21 representing units of time. The rail 1 is adapted to be adjustably mounted on a support such as a map holder by clamping screws 11. The map is supported on a board 6 by end plates 7 and clamping screws 8.
