Abstract

508,878. Moulding rubber mudguards. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., WILLSHAW, H., and NORCROSS, T. Feb. 4, 1938, No. 3518. [Class 87 (ii)] Two or more rubbe: mudguards 22 are moulded simultane ously by means of ar annular core member 21 and an annular mould member. A; shown, the mould member comprises annular parts 11 hav. ing tapered parts 28, 29 co-operating with tapered parts 26, 27 on the core. Recesses 33 to facilitate the opening of the mould, and spew boxes 30 are provided. The cores are provided with projections in the moulding cavity to divide the rubber into separate mudguards, and with straps 24 provided with central bosses for mounting the device rotatably. Projections 34 are provided on the mould parts to facilitate their manipulation. In a modification, the mould member comprises a number of segmental sections pressed radially against the core and arranged between upper and lower ring members. The upper ring member has a tapered flange co-operating with inclined outer surfaces of the segments.
