Abstract
508,877. Edge-runner mills. COULTHURST, Ltd., H. J. & A., and COULTHURST, H. Feb. 2, 1938, No. 3202. [Class 59] A grinding-mill of the edge-runner type has the runner j<2> driven by bevel gears j<3>, j<4> from a driven sleeve d rotatable about and movable vertically upon a stationary shaft a. As shown in the Figure, the inner sleeve d is slidably keyed to an outer sleeve f, which is driven by worm gearing f<6>, and is supported upon a coiled spring e<1> in order that the runner may yield to unduly hard pieces of material. The sleeve f has a flange g carrying the usual scrapers. An axial bore m in the shaft a enables lubricant to be pumped up into the housing d<1> whence it flows back as indicated by the arrows to the housing b. A filter pipe and level indicator p are provided.
