508,093. Valves for pneumatic tyres. BENAZET, G. Sept. 20,1937, No. 25464. Void. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1936. [Class 135] valves for pneumatic tyres which have a deflation warning signal comprise a valve member 11 which opens under the action of a spring 8 when the pressure in the tyre falls below a value determined by the spring, and a sound producing member such as the lip 15 carried by a cap 14 screwed on to the nose 5 of the valve casing 1. As'shown in Fig. 1 for a high pressure tyre, the valve member 11 seats on the lower end of a tube 26 which is screwed into the nose 5 and houses the spring 8. The tube 26 is hermetically sealed in the casing by a conical packing 27. The valve member 11 and an actuating piston 12 are fixed on a rod 10 surrounded by the spring 8. A member 19 in the cap 14 directs escaping air through a passage 20 and through the whistle opening into a branch conduit. 16 where it blows out a plug 17. In the case of low-pressure tyres a larger piston .is provided. In another form, Fig. 4, the piston is loose on the rod 10 and comprises a member with two conical flanges 49, 50. Also the whistle opening is closed by a cork washer 34, and the deflector 31 is held in place by a screw cap 32. In a further modification the piston is omitted and circular ribs are formed on the base of the valve member whilst in a still further modification, the valve is supported wholly in the cap 14.
