Abstract
507,582. Television receivers. FERNSEH AKT.-GES. Dec. 16, 1937, No. 34875. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1936. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] Distortion, due to the image of the fluorescent screen 2 of a cathode-ray tube 1 being projected on a viewing screen 5 at an angle alpha to the normal, is compensated by distorting the image produced on the screen of the tube, which is inclined at an angle # to the optical axis. The normal to the fluorescent screen is inclined to the direction of the undeflected electronic beam. The angle # is a fraction of the angle alpha equal to the inverse of the magnification of the optical system. The tube is so mounted as to be movable about a horizontal axis. Elliptical distortion of the spot of light is avoided by a compensating elliptical focusing field. The electronic beam is maintained in focus by variation of the focusing field. According to modifications, the fluorescent screen is deposited on a reflecting surface, and the light passes through an optically flat surface forming part of the envelope of the tube, Fig. 4 (not shown); the light from the fluorescent screen is reflected from a mirror in the tube, Fig. 5 (not shown) ; the fluorescent screen is on a carrier which is adjusted by an external control.
