Abstract
507,362. Alkali chromates. HENE, W. March 29, 1938, No. 9580. [Class 1 (iii)] In the production of alkali chromates, 100 parts by weight of pulverized chrome ore is mixed with 10-20 parts by weight of a powdered loosening material such as calcium or magnesium oxide, or residues from a previous operation, and with not more than 75 parts by weight of caustic soda &c. an equivalent quantity of other caustic alkali, and the mixture is heated to 550-750‹ C. under oxidizing conditions. The mixture may be passed continuously through the furnace in a layer on plates. The caustic alkali may be mixed with the other materials in the form of a hot concentrated lye.
