Abstract

507,104. Self - locking nuts. SIM MONDS, O. E., and SIMMONDS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1938, No. 5252. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts of the type having an insert 3 of rubber or the like for locking purposes are provided with a cap 4 of transparent material. The cap protects the insert against the deleterious action of fluid or solid as for example in tanks in which the nut is used. The transparent nature of the material allows of ascertaining readily that the required locking action has been obtained. The cap is shaped with a flange 5 which is retained by an inturned part 6 of the nut. Specifications 228,505, 296,636, [both in Class 89 (i)], and 438,253 are referred to.
