Abstract
506,535. Artificial silk &c. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Nov. 30, 1937, No. 33057. Convention date, Jan. 11. Addition to 486,866. [Class 2 (ii)] The process described in the parent Specification for obtaining artificial filaments and like materials of mat lustre is modified by using cuprammonium-cellulose solutions instead of viscose. The substance added to the spinning solution is a liquid residue which 'has been obtained in the production of alcohols or conversion products of alcohols by catalytic hydrogenation of oxides of carbon, and which has been subjected to a further hydrogenation, preferably catalytic hydrogenation. The hydrogenated liquid residue employed has a boiling point between 140 and 350‹ C. The residue may be added to the spinning solution directly or in the form of an emulsion, or it may be added in the course of the production of the spinning solution. A proportion of less than 5, per cent of the hydrogenated product calculated on the weight of the spinning solution is sufficient to give a mat lustre to the filaments.
