Abstract

505,917. Filtering gases. HEATHER, F. Nov. 23, 1937, No.. 32197. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XII] A filter screen is formed by compressing a number of brush members 6 between perforated walls. The brush members may be secured to cross bars 8 connected to end bars to form a removable rigid frame inserted between perforated walls 2, 3. The walls may be parallel planes, or coaxial frustrated cones divided radially by perforated plates. Water or a germicidal solution may be sprayed on to the brushes, or they may be wetted with oil. The filtering units may be removed and cleaned by paraffin or hot soda solution. When used for the air supply of internal combustion engines, the cleaner may be combined with silencing means described in Specification 471,431.
