Abstract

504,299. Directing vehicle lamps. RYGOR, H. E. Oct. 25, 1937, No. 29081. [Class 75 (iii)] In means for directing a headlamp, or an auxiliary lamp from the steering gear, the lamp 1 is mounted on the upper end of a rod or tube 2 rotatable in a sleeve 3, in one direction, by means of a sheave 4 or the like connected by a Bowden wire 5 to the drop arm or other part of the steering gear and, in the opposite direction, by a spring 6. The sheave 4 is keyed on the tube 2 and is held by a spring 17 in the lower enlarged part 16 of the sleeve. The lamp may be turned through a greater or smaller angle than the front wheels by varying the point of attachment of the Bowden wire, and stops may be provided to limit the movement of the tube 2, a spring or other lost-motion device being provided in the Bowden wire mechanism. The- Bowden wire may terminate in a loop for engaging either a hook on the steering mechanism or a hook on the end of a second Bowden wire connected to a lever within the vehicle for manual operation. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 243,248, [Class 75 (iii)].
