Vehicular lamps, directing.-A lamp is pivoted to and depends from a bracket rotatably mounted on the middle part of a motor-car hood and below its top part so as to illuminate the front parts of the motor-car and the ground in its immemediate vicinity and is capable of being directed by means of a handle accessible to the driver so as to throw the light laterally or to project it to some distance in front of the car. In one form, the stem 5 supporting the lamp is pivoted to a bracket 7 having a tubular boss 8 rotatably mounted in a tubular support 6 on the hood 4, and a link 12 connects a collar 13 on the stem 5 with a rod 10 extending through the boss 8 to near the driver. The rod 10 is connected to the boss by a key and slot so that it can slide in the boss. A pivoted knob 24 on the rear end of the rod 10 is provided with pins for co-operating with cam-surfaces on the ends of bars 17, 18 pivoted to a sleeve 15 on the rod 10 and working in slots in the rod 10 and the sleeve. One of the bars normally engages notches round the edge of a hole in a fixed plate 22 to prevent rotation of the rod 10 and the other bar has teeth for normallv engaging with the plate 22 and preventing longitudinal movement of the rod, the bars being forced outwards by springs 20. The bars 17, 18 are disengaged from the fixed plate 22 by tilting the knob 24.
