No. 32371. 20 (iii) and 137] Relates to inwardly-opening casement windows of the kind in which weatherexcluding members j, r, fixed to the jambs k and mullions w, are provided to screen the rails g, h and the stiles p of the casement when the latter is closed. According to the invention, the members j, r are formed on their inner faces with grooves j<1>, r<1> adapted to prevent the ingress of rain. The member may have further grooves as shown. and grooves h<1>, h<2> may also be formed in the casement. A stop t co-operating with a depending bead h<3> on the casement checks the entry of any water which has escaped past the member j. Hinged ventilating flaps d operated by cords d<2> are arranged above each casement, or a single flap is arranged to extend across both casements. These flaps open outwardly and are screened by a board f depending from the window frame member e.
