Abstract
502,875. Mechanical presses. HUMPHRIS, F. Sept. 24, 1937, No. 25901. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A toggle-link device for moulding, pressing and forming machines, comprises two or more pairs of coating links a, b arranged on each side of a bearer beam c, the pairs of links being coupled by rods e connecting the centre joint pins d or centre bearing blocks of each pair of links. The beam is preferably of I-form and the rods pass through holes c<1> in the web. The links a are hinged to the beam by pins f and the links b are hinged by pins g to a pusher block or table h. Any number of supporting blocks may be employed and these may be guided in known manner. Where the pins f, g have complementary parts f<1>, g<1>, these may be supported by flanges on the beam and on the blocks h respectively. The coupling- rods e are actuated by a cam m bearing on a roller k mounted on the centre joint pins d. The toggle links are returned to their initial position by a lever r loaded by a spring p. The pusher block h may be provided with one or more holes for permitting one or more stepped parts on the ejecting plunger j to contact with the beam c. A pusher block h is preferably provided for each plunger j, but one such block may actuate several plungers.
