Abstract
502,776. Securing exhaust pipes &c. to vehicle frames. HARRIS PRODUCTS CO. July 4, 1938, No. 19740. Convention date, Feb. 15. [Class 79 (iii)] The exhaust pipe and silencer on a motor vehicle are suspended from the chassis frame by a series of swinging links, preferably with rubber-bushed joints, so as to allow free expansion &c. At each point of support an arm 13, Fig. 3, formed with a loop 14, is clamped on the exhaust pipe 11 by a bolt 15, and is suspended by a link 22 from a bracket 18 bolted to the frame longitudinal 10. The link 22,. Fig. 4, is formed at each end with an eye 23 through which is passed a pintle 20 with a rubber bushing 24, the pintles being provided with large heads 21 and being riveted in the arm 13 and bracket 18 respectively so as to compress the bushings axially. For attachment to a transverse frame member, the link 22 may be twisted in its length so that the ends aro at right-angles.
