[Class 51 (i)] A scraper for removing clinker from the plates i, i of a travelling grate consists of a carrier a provided with resilient sheet metal strips b, c, d of increasing depth towards the front of the furnace. The strips may be divided and are pressed against the grate plates by the coal shoot g which is pivoted at g<1>. The scraper is carried by a bar f having a hook e engaging with a fixed support a' to which it is secured.
