[Class 97 (iii)] The used life of an electric incandescent lamp or discharge tube is indicated by the change in colour of a compound of cobalt with zinc or aluminium. The Figure shows on incandescent lamp in which the compound is contained in a ball 13 at the bottom of the supporting rod 12. A compound of cobalt with zinc oxide, when moderately heated changes from white to green, i.e. Rinman's Green. By moderately heating a compound of cobalt with aluminium oxide a green discoloration is obtained. Upon further heating a blue colour, i.e. Thenard's Blue is obtained. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the use of yellow tungsten bronze (Na2W 2O6) changing under prolonged heating at 500‹ C. from bright yellow through intermediate tones to black, red realgar changing under prolonged heating between 200 to 250‹ C. to black, SbI3 changing from yellow to red at 114‹ C., As2S3 changing from yellow to red at 170‹ C., HgI2 changing from red to yellow at 125‹ C., Sb2S3 changing from red to black at 200‹ C., mercuro-salts'or alkaline chloride decomposing under ultraviolet rays, or of materials which sublime or volatilize. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
