Aug. 11, 1937, No. 26734/38. Convention date, Feb. 3, 1937. Divided out of 500,626. [Class 98 (i)] A reflex photographic camera has a foldable viewing hood and an operating lever for releasing the shutter, means being provided to prevent actuation of said lever when the hood is in the closed or non-focusing position. In the form shown the mirror 3 is used in conjunction with a viewing lens 4 with a ground under surface. Members 7, 8, 12 are pivoted along the edges of the viewing lens and together with a cover 9, form the sides of the hood. Springs S<1> urge them to the positions shown when the catch 14 holding the cover 9 is released. The member 12 carries at its centre a lens 13 and the member 8 has an aperture 11. Either may be depressed over the lens 4 to assist view-finding. During the setting of the camera a lug 20 on the shaft 18 forming part of the shutter mechanism strikes a projection 20 on a plate 21 pivoted on the wall of the chamber 1 and carrying a pin 22 projecting through an arcuate slot in the wall. The plate is rotated and the pin 22 moves the mirror 3 to the focusing position where it is retained under pressure from the spring S by a detent 17 on the end of a spring blade 29, and also by a detent 23 which engages a projection 25 on the plate 21. The detent 23 is later removed by means (not shown) associated with the-shaft 18. The shutter release is effected by a button acting on the part 26 of a lever 27 pivoted at 28. This level carries at 30 a projection which lifts the blade 29 and releases the focusing mirror. During the return movement the plate 21 rotates freely to its initial position under pressure from the mirror. When the cover 9 is closed the release is prevented by a latch 32 pivoted to the cover at 33 and entering a slot in the lever 27 to hold it against movement.
