A reflex camera is provided with a multiple pivoted blade shutter of the everset type having a trigger which carries a pivoted coupling lever which co-operates with a coupling projection extending from the blade driving element operated by resilient means loaded by actuation of the shutter trigger which is then temporarily coupled to the blade driving element by the coupling lever, while with the viewing mirror in the light ray path and the trigger in the rest position the coupling lever locates the blade driving element in a position where the shutter blades are open. As shown, the shutter is mounted in a roll film reflex camera shown lying on one side and is open for focusing purposes, an arm 24 on the blade operating ring 22 having been moved anticlockwise from its rest position in which the blades 19 pivoted at 34 on a fixed plate 18 are closed, by winding on the film and so lightly tensioning the blade driving ring spring 25. To make an exposure the trigger arm 26 is depressed moving the trigger ring 26 anticlockwise and a lever 27 pivoted on this ring and spring urged anticlockwise is moved clockwise by engagement of the lever nose 30 by a fixed lug 31 so that a pin 29 on the lever rests against the ring 26 and so engages and moves the blade ring 22 anticlockwise through the coupling lug 23. Initially this movement closes the double-ended blades and when the arm 24 on the ring 22 reaches its dotted line position it deflects the lever 10 latching the mirror 3 in the focusing position so that the mirror is moved by its spring out of the exposure field while the arm 24 becomes held in its new position with the blade ring driving spring 25 tensioned by a pivoted latch 14. When the mirror has moved clear of the exposure field it strikes the arm 13 of the latch 14 to free the blade ring which is returned clockwise by its spring to open and close the shutter to effect the exposure. The trigger ring 26 is returned to its rest position by a spring 32, the return being delayed sufficiently to allow the coupling lug 23 to pass between the lever 27 and the ring 26 before the lever is released by nose 30 disengaging from fixed lug 31.
