Abstract
609,083. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd. March 5, 1946, No. 6861. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1944. [Class 98 (i)] A sliding plate camera shutter comprises a base-plate 1 having guideways 2 and an exposure aperture 6 (Fig. 2, not shown); two shutter-plates 4, 5 arranged to slide face to face in the guideways and drawn towards a rest position by springs 20, 26; a releasable latch connection, which may consist of a spring arm 16 on plate 4 and a projection 24 on plate 5, causing the plates to be moved simultaneously to the left by operating a trigger 33 to set the shutter; means for releasing the latch connection, as by projection 51 raising end 17 of spring arm 16 clear of projection 24, to allow the plate 4 to return to its rest position, opening the exposure aperture; a latch connection 44, 48 between the second shutter plate 5 and a lever 39 moved by the trigger as by a pin 41 engaging in an annular groove 36; and means, as lugs 11 on plate 4 engaging spring arms 28, 29 on plate 5 which project through cut-out portions in the plate 4, for releasing the latch to allow plate 5 to follow plate 4 and close the exposure aperture. As described, the setting action brings an aperture 22 in plate 5 into coincidence with aperture 6 in the base-plate and release of plates 4, 5 successively open and close this aperture by bringing aperture 8 in plate 4 into and moving aperture 22 out of register therewith. For bulb exposures, the tail of a spring latch member 31 is depressed by a rotatably mounted eccentric (Fig. 7, not shown) which prevents the projections 11 from freeing the latch edge 44 from the latch edge 48 on lever 39 and thus preventing closure of the exposure aperture until the trigger is released. A collar 38 is provided on the trigger shaft to allow the use of the double exposure prevention device described in Specification 599,819.
