Abstract

500,478. Mounting electric motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 6, 1937, No. 21735. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1936. [Class 79 (iii)] In an electrically propelled vehicle having an axle-hung motor 1 with resilient nose suspension 6 on the vehicle frame, cushioning stops, located between the nose suspension and the motor, are provided, to restrict lateral displacement of the motor in such a manner as to prevent shocks between the wheels or other rigid stops on the axle and the bearings of the motor thereon the clearance 7 between such parts being normally of the order of 10 mm. For this purpose, a tie rod 9, Fig. 2, may be provided between a part 8 on the nose and a bracket 10 on the vehicle frame, with " Silentbloc " (Registered Trade Mark) or other resilient, packing in the pivotal joints, or resilient stops 14, 15, Fig. 6, on the nose may be in contact with brackets 16, 17 on the frame. In either form, the motor casing or frame may be provided with an extension on the other side of the axle similarly connected to the vehicle frame.
