[Class 136 (i)] In dress-guards for removable attachment to bicycle mudguards, the side plate or plates of the dress-guard are attached to clamping-members or springs of such length and preliminary tension that when clamped transversely between the beads of the mudguard they take an arcuate shape haying a greater radius of curvature than that of the cross-section of the mudguard. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the side plates I, 2 are provided at their upper edges with a wire 5, and have spaced apertures cut out along the edges to receive the ends of spaced spring clamping-members 6, which are inserted under tension between the beaded edges 3 of the mudguard 4. As shown on the right-hand side of Fig. 3, spring tensioning- members `7 may be attached to some or all of the springs 6 so as to hold the plates 1, 2 away from the wheel, the springs 7 being preferably pivoted to facilitate the mounting of the plates on the mudguard. The springs 6 may be mounted on a central spacing-rail 21, Fig. 8. The wires 5 may be attached to the inner surfaces of the plates 1, 2 so as to fit into recesses formed in the ends of the springs 6 or members attached thereto, the edges of the plates being clamped in the space between the springs and the bead of the mudguard. The lower edges of the plates 1, 2 are resiliently attached by springs 12 to the wheel axle 16 or a part of the cycle frame. The plates 1, 2 may be detachably secured by press-button fastenings 23, 24, Fig. 8, to the attachment springs, which may consist of two metal. strips 17, 18 riveted to the spacing-rail 21. A combined dress and splash guard is similarly attached to the lower end of the front mudguard.
