[Class 81 (ii)] [ Also in Croup XVII] Blood-transfusion apparatus comprises a container such as a bottle A having a rubber closure pad held thereon by a screw cap C, the closure having two passages receiving respectively a tube 17 connected by a rubber tube 17a with the donor's needle, and the nipple of a suction bulb D having ball-valves. The cap C carries a handle 21 having a lateral extension 22 which protects the tube l7 and serves as an abutment for compression of the bulb D by the operator. A bail 13 for suspending the bottle in inverted position is secured to a band 12 arranged between ribs 12a, on the container. The rubber closure has an eccentric boss 20 which projects through a similarly shaped. aperture in the cap C to position tube, bulb and handle, correctly. In use, the bulb is operated, to draw blood from the donor and the container held and constantly agitated, by a single hand of the operator who can thus .carry out the transfusion without. assistance. Sodium citrate solution is first drawn into the container to prevent clotting. After collection of the blood, the bulb D is replaced by an injection tube, tube 17a is removed, and tube 17 pressed down to the bottom of the container to serve as an air inlet after the latter has been suspended inverted by the bail 13. The outlet ball-valve of the bulb D has a tapered seating, the angle of the sides of which is about 10‹ to the vertical.
