[Class 37] An electric valve of the dry-rectifier type comprises a barrier layer 3, strengthened where it surrounds a control grid 4 embedded in it, to prevent grid emission. The thickened parts can extend into the semi-conductor layer 2, as shown in section in the Figure. The various layers of semi-conductor, the grid bars and the thickened parts of the barrier layer may be produced by a process of vaporization, dusting on &c. using stencils.
