Abstract
499,915. Pivot adjustments. COOPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, Ltd, and LINE, R. H. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34193. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] In angularly adjustable pillar supports of reading lamps &c. the pillar a is forked at its lower end to bridge an upstanding quadrant c with ratchet teeth on its inner curved edge, and a pawl e housed in the space between the forks is pressed into engagement with the teeth bv a spiral spring f beneath it, and is connected by a screw g with a sliding member adapted to move the pawl out of engagement with the teeth. As shown, the sliding member comprises a sleeve h surrounding the pillar, which is pivoted to the quadrant, and the screw g passes through a slot a<1> in the pillar. In a modification, the pawl is connected to the pillar itself which slides in a tubular extension pivoted to the quadrant and is depressed against a spring to release the pawl.
