Abstract

498,401. Bottle openers. LOW, T. H. July 7, 1937, No. 18847. [Class 125 (ii)] A crown-cork remover comprises a head part 1 provided with a rigid depending claw 3 having an inwardly - turned lip 4 for engaging the crimped flange of the cork, and a downwardly-extending handle 2, there being a certain clearance with respect to the cork, a resilient compression member such as a leaf spring 6 being provided to maintain the inturned lip of the claw under the flange of the cork. The upper end of the spring 6 bears on the outer surface of the crimped flange and a projection 5 engages underneath the bottom edge thereof so that the work, when removed, is held in the opener. The lower part 13 of the handle is bent outwardly so as to permit of the direction of pressure exerted by the hands to be readily changed.
