498,091. Sharpening safety razor blades. BLELOCH, W. E. Nov. 15, 1937, No. 31305. [Class 60] In the sharpening of safety razor blades, the blade 6 is placed upon a support, shown as formed on a side of a box 1 adapted to contain a strop &c., consisting of a flat central portion 2 joined by oppositely inclined surfaces 3, 4 rounded at 5 where they merge into the surface 2. The ends of the surfaces 3, 4 provide shoulders 7 to guide a strop 8, which in operation lies on a surface 3 or 4 and also on a bevelled or rounded surface 16 on a clamping bar 10, which holds the blade 6 in position ; the bar 10 has finger grips 11 and is provided with two pins 12, which pass through holes in the blade and enter holes 9 in the side of the box. The strop 8 may comprise a core 17 of wood &c. covered with leather &c. 18 held by stitching or riveting 19 ; when applied to the support, the strop is drawn downwards across the blade edge, which is bent slightly over the surface 3 or 4.
