497,181. Weighing-apparatus. TRINER SCALE & MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 20, 1938, No. 1902. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1937. [Class 143] In a weighing scale having a check link 43 situated vertically below the fulcra 19, 23 of the beam 16 and pan-support 27, the pivotal connections at the ends of the check link each comprise a gravitationally engaged conical section extending through a circular knifeedged aperture. The depending leg 27 of the pan-support carries a bent plate 36 connected to the link 43 by a pin 37, Fig. 4, having a conical shoulder 41 on which the end of the link rests by means of a knife-edged orifice 42 in the link. A similar support 47 for the opposite end of the link is provided in connection with a bar 48 secured to the casing. The supporting end of the bar 48 may be adjusted vertically by a screw 49 to adjust the parallelism of the linkage. The scale beam 16 carrying an adjustable poise weight 52 is connected to a pointer 73 indicating subdivisions of the graduations 50 on the beam. The movement of the pointer is restrained by a pendulum 75 slightly off-set from the vertical when the pointer is at zero in order to take up slack in the connections. The tip of the indicator extends through a slot in the top of the casing and registers with graduations on sloping portions 61 which protect the pointer from injury. The beam is of hollow formation and its knife-edges 19, 23 are retained in the side walls of the structure by means of a clamping plate 24. An adjusting weight is provided inside the beam.
