471,998. Weighing-apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., TIMSON, W., and JONES, W. June 16, 1936, No. 16699. [Class 143] Counter scales.-A counter weighing-scale has an automatic resistant mechanism of the cam and pendulum type to which movement is transmitted by a flexible ribbon 13, one end of which is anchored to a plate 12 adjustably mounted on the lower end of a check arm 8 rigidly connected to a scale-plate support 4a, the upper portion of the arm being located within a housing 9 containing the automatic indicating mechanism and carrying at its upper end a knife-edge plate 8a which co-operates with a bearing carried at one end of an horizontally disposed stay 11, the other end of which carries a bearing co-operating with a knife-edge plate 22 carried by a pivotally mounted block 24 adjusted by means of screws 25. A second scale-pan support 3a carries an arm 7 connected to a link 10 and adjustable block 23. The pointer 17 carries a counterbalance weight 19 adjusted by a screw 20 which is vertical when the pointer is at zero so that adjustment of the weight does not affect the accuracy of the scale. A dashpot 27 is connected to an arm extending from the check link 7.
