[Glass 146 (iii)] The whole or a section of the barrel of a fountain pen is formed partly of transparent and partly of relatively opaque material and is engraved or chased on the exterior so that it appears opaque except when held up to the light. The transparent and opaque materials are preferably combined to form a lattice-work pattern as described in Specification 495,659. The barrel may be formed of two layers of material, the outer of which is formed of the transparent and opaque material, and the inner of plain transparent material.
