Abstract
496,747. Cathode - ray tubes and circuits therefor. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. March 2, 1937, No. 6183. Void. Convention date, March 9, 1936. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In a cathode-ray tube for amplifying radiofrequency currents the velocity of the electrons is modulated in accordance with the signal, and the path travelled by the electrons is large compared with the time travelled by an electron during one cycle of the signal so that the electron density throughout the path varies in accordance with the signal. The cathode of the gun 5 is connected to a heating battery 19 through chokes 20, and the tuned circuit 26 is connected across the anode and cathode of the gun so that the velocity of the electrons is modulated. A tuned output circuit 29 is provided, and the output electrode 10 is connected to the shield 12. The tube is surrounded by a focusing coil 14.
