[Class 136 (iii)] In a two-wheeled cycle or motor-cycle having a luggage-carrier supported at its front and rear ends over the rear wheel, the length of the luggage-carrier is equal to or greater than the diameter of the rear wheel, and the upper and lower rear wheel forks form with each other an angle of less than 60‹, preferably 45‹. The platform 14 of the carrier, which is mounted over a rear wheel 10 of smaller diameter than usual, comprises a number of longitudinal bars united by crossbars 15, 16, the centre of the front cross-bar 16 being secured by a clip to the lug 18 forming the junction between the upper rear fork and the vertical upper part of the frame member 7 supporting the pillar 8 of the saddle 9. The carrier platform 14 is supported near its corners by two or more pairs of struts 19,21 which converge downwardly and inwardly and are secured to short crossbars projecting from fork end plates 11, a stand 22 being also pivoted to these crossbars. The load 24 is held in place by a guard comprising a front member 25 secured to the saddle pillar 8, longitudinal members 26, and a rear member 27. In order to accommodate a load projecting beyond the rear end of the carrier, the front ends of the members 26 may be disconnected to enable the rear member 27 to be swung downwardly about the crossbar 15 into either a horizontal position or a position below the platform 14, the front ends of the members 26 being then clamped at the points 30 or 16.
