Abstract

<PICT:0495090/IV/1> An apparatus for treating textile materials, especially for dyeing threaded windings such as artificial silk, spinning cakes, yarn strands, &c., and which is described as an improvement in or modification of the apparatus described in Specification 479,930, comprises a casing 1 communicating through inlet and return pipes 2, 5 with a pump 3 and housing a tank 6 in which there is a partition 10 formed with openings 12, 13, 14 controlling, through a slide 8 located in a lower chamber 7, admission to a byepass chamber 15. The opening 13 communicates with a chamber 19 above which are chambers 31-33 for the material to be treated. These are closed by a hollow cover 18 connected by pipes 16, 17 to the chamber 15, and are provided with hollow bodies 21-23 having apertured walls 30 and connected by members 38 to the chamber 19. Liquid from the chamber 15 can also flow through apertures 36 into the chambers 31-33, while liquid can also flow through an apertured wall 37 of the cover 18 into the tops of these chambers. In each chamber 31-33 there is a flat pipe 35 leading to the chamber 19, the material to be treated being placed loosely round these pipes. The direction of the flow of liquid is controlled by the slide 8, the chambers 31-33 being always completely filled so that the loosened threads will float in the flowing stream.
