Abstract
494,799. Enamels and glazes. KREIDL, I. Nov. 10, 1937, No. 30823. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1936. [Class 56] A method of producing white clouded enamel for direct application to iron consists in adding to the enamel substances which, when the enamel is fired, evolve gases which are not reduced, or only with difficulty, by the carbon contained in the iron. Suitable substances are hydrocarbons of high molecular weight such as resins, pitches, tars, asphalt, or the like which are also suitable for clouding the enamel by the evolution of gas bubbles. These gas-clouding agents may be used with the addition of solid clouding agents such as tin oxide or antimony oxide. The enamel is particularly suitable for application to metal supports of the kind described in Specifications 401,650 and 421,171.
