Abstract

Monoazo dyes are made by combining a diazo compound of an amine of the general formula <FORM:0493406/IV/1> wherein R = an aliphatic radicle containing at least 2 carbon atoms or an araliphatic or aromatic radicle, and R1=an aliphatic or aliphatic-cycloaliphatic radicle of at least 6 carbon atoms, with N-acyl derivatives of H or K acid. They dye wool in bluish red shades. In examples the following dyes are described: (1) 3 - amino - isohexylphenyl - 4 - benzylether --> N-2 : 5-dichlorbenzoyl H acid; (2) 3-amino - isooctylphenyl - 4 - ethylether --> N - 2 : 5 - dimethyl - 4 - chlorbenzenesulphonyl H acid; (3) 3-amino-isooctylphenyl-4-benzylether --> N-o-methylphenoxyacetyl H acid. A sample has been furnished under Sect. 2 (5) of the dyestuff: 3-amino-4-ethoxy-hexahydrodiphenylmethane --> N-2 : 5-dimethyl-4-chlorbenzenesulphonyl H acid. Specifications 12679/98, 22886/99, [both in Class 2], 15147/12, 313,110, 337,577, [all in Class 2 (iii)], 364,609, and 463,645 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of diazo components of the above general formula when R1=a cycloaliphatic radicle of at least 6 carbon atoms other than the cyclohexyl radicle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
