Abstract
Monoazo dyes are made by coupling diazo compounds of amines of the general formula <FORM:0487621/IV/1> wherein the nuclei may be substituted, e.g. by alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, with N-benzoyl 2 : 8 : 6-acid in which the benzoyl residue may contain alkyl, alkoxy or halogen or the dyes made from 2 : 8 : 6-acid are benzoylated with halogenides of phenyl carboxylic acids which may contain alkyl, alkoxy or halogen. They dye wool and silk in red shades fast to perspiration and milling. Silk may be dyed from a neutral bath to complete exhaustion. In examples, the following dyes are described: 4 - p - toluenesulphonyl - benzylamino - 1 - aminobenzene or the 3-methyl or 3-methoxy derivative --> benzoyl-2 : 8 : 6-acid. Samples have been furnished under Sect. 2 (5) of dyes prepared from the diazo compounds specified in the examples coupled respectively with N-o-chlorbenzoyl - 2 : 8 : 6 - acid, N - benzoyl - 2 : 8 : 6-acid and N-benzoyl-2 : 8 : 6-acid. Specification 424,354 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises dyes made by coupling diazo compounds of amines of the general formula <FORM:0487621/IV/2> wherein X = CO or SO2 and wherein the benzene nuclei may contain substituents such as alkyl, alkoxy and halogen, with N-benzoylg - or J-acid in which the benzoyl residue may contain alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, and the corresponding dyes made by benzoylation. The following additional components are specified: 4-benzoylbenzyl- or p-chlorbenzylamino-1-aminobenzene, 4-o-chlorbenzoyl-benzyl - 1 -aminobenzene; N-2 : 5 - dichlorbenzoyl - g - acid, benzoyl J-acid, o-chlorbenzoyl - J - acid. This subject - matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
