493,127. Asymmetrically conducting resistances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 30, 1936, No. 35740. Void. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1935. [Class 37] The cells of a rectifier are grouped for heat dissipation, the cooling means being placed at each end of a group. In the example each unit comprises electrodes 1, 3 and semi conductor layers 2, four units are in each group at the ends of which cooling plates 4, 5, 6, are placed. The units are mounted on a bolt 7 and the assembly is built into a frame 10. The plates 4, 5, 6 may be connected to the frame by angle pieces 13, thin insulation being interposed. In a modification the frame and the cooling plates are combined to form U-shaped members between the legs of which the groups of units are fitted, with suitable electrical insulating means interposed such as varnish, thin paper or thin mica.
