Abstract
492,971. Fire-extinguishing. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG-UND MOTORENWERKE AKT.-GES. April 6, 1937, No. 9825. Convention date, April 6, 1936. [Class 47 (ii)] A medium for extinguishing burning light metals consists of an emulsion of water and oil to which is added a soluble silicate, such as water glass. A substance which evolves an extinguishing gas when heated, such as ammonium carbonate, as well as emulsifiers or protective colloids, also may be added. Preferably, an oil having a high flash point and a high content of saponifiable constituents is employed. The medium is intended for use with machine tools working on light metals, and may be used as a filling for the chip guards of such machines, or for cooling in boring or cutting operations. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an extinguishing agent consisting of an aqueous solution of a soluble silicate with the addition of an alkali hydroxide solution and a gas-evolving material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
