Abstract
492,411. Collapsable gates. MORLEY, R. E. June 17, 1937, No. 16809. [Class 45] In a collapsable gate of the kind in which a number of plates, each connected by one edge to a picket, are adapted to slide over one another, the sliding connections comprise a series of connecting pieces each secured to the free edge of a panel and adapted to engage the rail on the adjacent face of the next panel. As shown, the gate comprises pickets 20 connected by lattices 21, each picked having a panel or plate 26 secured to it by means of a series of spacing pieces of progressive thickness. Connecting pieces 29, of truncated triangular cross section are secured by their narrower faces to the outer surfaces of the plates 26 to provide undercut edges. They may be formed with or mounted on thin base plates 30 to prevent rubbing by the complementary member. The complementary members comprise blocks 31, having channel formations to engage the undercut edges of the bars 29, and are mounted at the free longitudinal edges of the plates. Stiffening strips 34 are mounted at the outer edges to act as stops when the plates are in the extended position. Specification 478,059 is referred to.
