[Class 106 (iii)] A vehicle's group speeds are signalled to external persons by the number and/or colour of electric lights the circuits of which are completed by contacts on a speed actuated rotating member engaging with overlapping concentric arcuate conducting strips on a dial. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the contacts 16<1>, 16<2>, 16<3> on the speedometer pointer 12 engage the overlapping concentric arcuate conducting strips y', g, r', y<2>, r<2> on the speedometer dial 13, to complete the circuits of one or more of the coloured electric lights Y<1>, G, R<1>, Y<2>, R<2> connected to an earthed terminal bar 20 in the container 18. The conducting strips may be coloured to agree with the lights and/or a group of lights may be provided in the interior of the vehicle which become illuminated to produce a replica of the lights Y<1>, &c. The lights Y<1>, &c. may be uncoloured and mounted in separate compartments having coloured front and rear frames of glass. In simple arrangements two or three lights of the same or different colour may be used.
