(Class 38 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] A machine-tool has a member or carriage reciprocable longitudinally of a bed, drive means for reciprocating said member &c., at feed and traverse rates,' control means for said drive means actuatable to obtain movements of the member, including rapid approach and feed, and means for preventing, during the cutting operation, a change in the movement of the member &c., from feed directly to rapid approach, but permitting a change from feed to rapid return. The electrical arrangements for obtaining movement of the member or carriage are identical with those described in connection with Specification 490,427. Specification 490,434 also is referred to.
