[Class 4] A bracing member for wings or other aircraft surfaces of which the boundary walls when viewed in cross-section are not locally parallel comprises flange members constituted by standard section strips, e.g. T-, L-, or U-strips, the outer surfaces of which are arranged to conform to the local contour of the wing or other surface by bending the web member interconnecting the flanges in the plane of its length. The web may be singly curved when the boundary surfaces are both concave, Fig. 1, or doubly curved, Fig. 2, when one surface is concave and the other convex. Each flange may be of solid T-section or comprise two angle-strips together forming a T and the webs may be solid, with or without lightening holes, of lattice construction, or of corrugated sheet and are reinforced by ribs such as 12, Fig. 1. When U-shaped channels are used, Fig. 6, flanges 8, 9 both angularly bent are provided and a rib 12 is placed between them.
