Abstract

489,886. Shuttering - arrangements for concrete buildings. LUCHTERHAND, O., and LUCHTERHAND, H. June 8, 1937, No. 15796. [Class 20 (ii)] For use in casting concrete buildings in situ, a shuttering-arrangement of the type described in Specification 195,115, [Class 20 (ii)], is used comprising two sets of beams arranged cross-wise to form a self-contained skeleton framework, and thin flanged panel plates, stiffened on their backs, are arranged to be supported by the framework, and the inner framework members are arranged to bear upon the joints of the panels running in one direction while the panel stiffeners are arranged parallel to the other panel edges. As shown in Fig. 2, the skeleton framework comprises outer supports a and inner supports b, the inner supports being attached to the abutting flanged edges of the panels d, d<1> by bolts e, the edges of the panels being also bolted together. The panels are stiffened by stiffeners k disposed on their backs in a direction parallel to the edges of the panels, which are not coincident with the inner frame supports. For conduit casting, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the outer supports a and the panel stiffeners k, rim longitudinally of the conduit while the inner supports b are coincident with the curved panel edges. For curved walls, as shown in Fig. 8, wedges m are interposed between the outer and inner framework members a and b, respectively, the inner framework members being coincident with the joined panel edges running in one direction. The wedges may be replaced by screws and nuts or, alternatively, curved chocks may be inserted between the panel edges and the inner framework members. For silo and chimney construction opposed arrangements of shuttering as described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 are used and connected by spacers. Specifications 5046/13 and 255,627, [both in Class 20 (ii)], also are referred to.
