[Class 59] In a jaw-crusher both the members carrying the jaws are movably mounted relatively to the foundation and /or to one another, the members being in the form of an oscillatory system adapted to oscillate with a pronounced natural frequency and being actuated by loose couplings, whereby they are caused to oscillate with a phase displacement of 180‹. As shown the crusher casing b is in two parts supported on springs or links and the crusher jaw a is supported on springs or links f. The jaw is provided with side extensions a<1> and a bottom extension a<2> which are supported resiliently from the frame b by domed rubber blocks c, q. Side plates i may be fixed to the sides of one of the jaws and a deflector plate p diverts the crushed material away from the discharge outlet. A drive shaft g driven by pulley o passes through the crusher jaw and is provided with end eccentrics e connected by adjustable rods h to a bar m supported in rubber blocks k on the casing b, the pressure on the bar m being adjustable by rods n. The initial tension of the elastic members c between which the jaw a oscillates is controlled by screws s provided in the cheeks b<1> of the frame b. A jaw r is mounted in the crusher jaw a and a similar jaw r<1> in the frame b and when the pulley o is rotated the jaw a oscillates with a phase displacement of 180‹ relatively to the frame b. In a modification the frame is fixed and two moving jaws are connected by the eccentric gear so as to move in the direction of oscillation on spring supports. A rocking motion may be given to the jaws by using rubber members of different dimensions or by altering the mass of the oscillating member and the frequency may be altered by varying the initial compression of the rubber pads.
