489,582. Printing-surfaces. RENCK, H. April 19, 1937, No. 11088. [Class 100 (ii)] A thin flexible printing-plate, e.g. of À3 mm. thickness, is prepared by coating a plate of iron or steel with an amalgamatable metal, e.g. brass, applying a further coating of nickel, removing the nickel at the non-printing areas of the plate and treating the non-printing areas with an aqueous solution of salts of mercury and other metals, e.g. silver, forming amalgams. Specifications 265,294, [Class 100 (ii)], and 446,883 are referred to.
