Abstract
488,744. Closets. MARROW, M. S. April 9, 1937, No. 10127. [Class 26] A portable collapsable sanitary seat guard for a water closet consists of an elliptical annulus of rubber, cork matting or other suitable material divided into sections, and a flexible waterproof elliptical annulus to which the sections are fixed for folding, the arrangement of the sections being such as to provide pairs of aligned divisions giving two or more folding lines which enable the seat to be collapsed and folded in such a manner that the upper face of the seat does not make contact with the underside or backing. The sections 1 ... 8 are secured in spaced relationship to the annulus 9 of mackintosh, oiled silk or other waterproof flexible material. Two tapes 10 span the central sections 3, 5 and 4, 6 on the minor axis near the centre and are secured at their ends to the outer sections 1, 7 and 2, 8, so that, if the device is lifted up by the tapes the sections 3, 5 and 4, 6 fold their upper faces together along the minor axis and 1, 2, 7, 8 fall back. The device is then folded again along the major axis, and may be placed in a pouch of oiled silk or the like provided with a press-button, sliding-clasp or other fastening. The device is provided with a tab 13 on its edge at one end of the major axis to assist in disposing it on the closet seat.
