Abstract

1471987 Diapers DOMTAR Ltd 19 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 32060/74 Heading A5R A disposable diaper comprises a plastics impermeable backing sheet 12, a porous facing sheet 14, which may contain vapourisable medicaments, and an absorbant pad 16 therebetween; a pair of folds 26, 28 dividing the diaper into a central section 24 and two wing sections 20, 22 with the wing section 22 first folded into face-to-face relationship with the central section and the other wing section 20 then folded on top to enclose the facing sheet 14, the longer side edges of the wing sections having a fold-over flap 18 to enclose the edge of the facing sheet 12 and the pad 16. The backing sheet and the facing sheet project beyond the ends of the pad and are secured together at 19, the diaper being fastened in use, by fasteners 36. Alternatively the wing section 22 may be folded back upon itself to form a pleat before section 20 is folded on top, Fig. 2a (not shown). To dispose of the diaper tack points 30, 32 forming a crotch portion of the diaper are pulled out and it is either folded as previously or simply folded into two and then rolled up and secured by a fastener 36.
