A fastener for use in a disposable diaper having an absorbent body and a plastic backing sheet, the fastener comprising a strip of tape folded into a "Z" configuration having contiguous first, second and third legs, said strip having a front surface and a dorsal surface and being coated with an adhesive on the front surface of each of said first and third legs, the front surface of said second leg being devoid of adhesive, the front surface of said first leg being in contact with said plastic backing sheet and the front surface of said third leg being in contact with the front surface of said second leg, thereby forming a secondary unit comprising said second and third legs, said secondary unit being secured from releasably to the dorsal surface of said first leg.
