488,303. Grinding - discs. TENNANT, W. J. (Carborundum Co.) Feb. 25, 1937, No. 5718. [Class 60] In an abrasive disc of the type such as is described in Specification. 329,323, [Class 60], comprising a backing disc of a tough ductile material which is relatively stiff and rigid in its own plane but which is laterally flexible, a cloth disc adhesively secured to the backing disc and a coating of abrasive grains attached to the outer surface of the cloth disc, the grains are attached by a binding material consisting of or containing a synthetic resin, such, for example, as a heat hardened phenolic condensation product resin. The backing disc may be of hydrolysed cellulose or may be a heat hardened phenolic condensation product resin reinforced by an embedded disc of cloth. The cloth disc to which the grains are attached may be filled with a brittle material. Specification 440,569 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 356,188.
