Abstract

487,976. Vehicle wheels. BARTON, P. C. April 7, 1937, No. 9858. [Class 144 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A wheel for barrows, trucks, and like vehicles comprises a disc or spider b, particularly of the kind described in Specification 475,978, secured to the hub-barrel c by swaging the ends of the latter into the chamfered bores of a pair of coned washers a which are thus forced into clamping engagement with the wheelcentre. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the barrel c is welded to the outer washer and has a threaded extension c<3> to take a hub-cap. As shown in this Figure, the washers may be formed with teeth engaging notches a<3> in the wheel-centre. For additional security the washers may be spot-welded to the wheel-centre.
