Abstract
487,181. Refrigerating. FRENCKEL, F. July 8, 1937, No. 19033. [Class 29] The freezing of moisture deposited on aircooling pipes in a chamber 1 is prevented by spraying brine or other non-freezing liquid from perforated spray pipes 7 over the cooling-pipes at predetermined intervals of time, and means are provided for draining separately the brine and the condensation moisture collected when the brine is not flowing so that dilution of the brine is lessened. The air enters the chamber by pipe 5 and after passage over the pipes may pass through moisture intercepting devices before leaving by pipe 6. Brine is supplied to the spray pipes from a flushing tank 10, the supply being timed by a clock or by a float, and collects in a sump 14 from which a two-way cock 15 discharges it into a tank 11 whence it is pumped back to tank 10. The discharge cock 15 is actuated by a device 18 receiving an impulse from the flushing tank, and when the brine spray stops the cock is returned to a position in which dripping moisture is discharged to a waste pipe 17.
